This week my guest on Next on the Tee with Chris Mascaro is: Actor turned ESPN Radio Broadcaster Matthew Laurance.

Matthew Laurance - I talked with Matthew about his acting days particular his role as bass player Sal Amato in the cult classic Eddie and The Cruisers. We'll also talk about the celebrity tournaments he's played in over the years, some of his favority celebrity playing partners, which actor rendered him speechless when they met, his favorite playinig venues, where he played a round of golf if the golf gods plopped him down anywhere on the planet, his dream foursome and his current role with ESPN Radio EPSN Radio 1300 WXLG up in Lexington, Kentucky.

Legendary Club Designer, Jesse Ortiz & PGA Professional, Joe Grohman

Next on the Tee with Chris Mascaro this week are: Top golf equipment designer Jesse Ortiz and Head Golf Professional at the Navy Golf Course at Seal Beach, Joe Grohman.

Jesse Ortiz: Jesse started making clubs back in 1968 and was instrumental in growing the Orlimar Golf Company from a $3M into a $100M business thanks to his trimetal…low profile designed metal woods which are regarded among the most innovative ever introduced into the golf industry. He now designs clubs for the Bobby Jones brand and his drivers, fairway woods and utility clubs have received heavy acclaim in Golf Digest and have been on their Hot List starting in 2006. Jesse talked about his father Lou and how they grew the company from it's beginnings in a horse stable in San Francisco making persimmon woods that would be played by Johnny Miller, Tony Lema and Ken Venturi, into his tri metal, low profile clubs that revolutionized the game.

Joe Grohman: Joe has been the Head Golf Professional at the Navy Golf Course at Seal Beach in Cypress, California for the last 11+ years. It's the golf course where Earl and Tiger Woods were members and Tiger got his start in Junior Golf. Hear Joe talking about losing to Tiger when Tiger was 13. He also talked about the racial discrimination Tiger faced from a few members of the club. The issues ran so deep that they didn't acknowledge his accomplishments and when he offered to allow them to display his US Amateur Trophy, they refused. Hear all that and more from our conversation.

To put the icing on the cake, Golf Magazine named her one of the Most Beautiful Women in Golf.

Debbie O'Connell is also a Top 100 Instructor according to Golf Magazine and a Top 50 Best Women Teachers. She is also becoming a regular on The Golf Channel, sharing tips on the short game plus how to remain positive out on the course. Tom Dixon - Tom is the North American Product Manager for ECCO Golf & Sports Shoes. I talked with Tom about their ECCO Cage, Hybrid and other styles of golf shoes. We also talked about their commemorative edition shoe to honor Fred Couples' 1992 Masters victory.

Scott Felix - This is Scott's third visit on the show. He is one of the Top 100 Club Fitters according to Golf Magazine. Scott will take us down the golf club, from the grip to the shaft to the club head. We'll talk about what the right type of grip, shaft and club face is best based on different swing speeds and skill level.

Rick Rounsaville - Rick is the Director of Golf for Bulle Rock Golf Club in Maryland. Bulle Rock was the site of the LPGA Championship for several years.I talked to Rick about the course layout, what it was like walking the course with Pete Dye doing the orginal course layout and some of the spectacular holes that makes Bulle Rock a great golf destination.

On this episode of Next on the Tee with Chris Mascaro my guest is: Andy Bell, CEO of the Bobby Jones Company.

I talked with Andy about his time at the University of North Texas and how he went from college to being the Director of Sales at Ralph Lauren. He also shared the story of why he left there to launch his own high end clothing line called House of Carrington with his brother after they found a long lost family journal. He's now the CEO revitalizing the Bobby Jones apparel brand. He let us know that there are exciting things coming for the brand plus the Bobby Jones golf course in Atlanta. We talked in detail about his vision for the brand plus their golf club division run by legendary club designer Jesse Ortiz.

Bob Friend Jr. - Bob is playing the Senior Players Championship. I'll talk with him about his opening 2 rounds, his 3rd round pairing with fellow Pittsburgher Rocco Mediate and we'll look ahead to the US Open next week at Oakmont.

Helge Meyer - I'll talk to Helge about his runner-up finish in the German Championship, what inspired them to start Vice Golf and to get into the very competitive golf ball business. We'll also talk about their strategy to compete with Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Srixon and the other big golf ball manufacturers, what it meant to them to make Golf Digest's Hot List the last 2 years plus what may be next for them.
